Web Application Development FAQs
What web applications are, what they cost, how we plan and build them, and how we keep them secure and scalable.
Web Application Development questions and answers
What is a web application?
A web application is software that runs in a web browser and lets users log in and do things: manage data, place orders, book appointments, track work or collaborate. Examples include CRMs, school management systems, booking portals, inventory dashboards and SaaS products.
Unlike a brochure website, a web application is built around workflows, user roles and a database.
How is a web application different from a website?
A website mainly presents information to visitors. A web application is interactive: users have accounts, enter and process data, and the system performs tasks such as calculations, approvals, notifications or reports. Many businesses have both, a public website for marketing and a web application for operations or customers.
How much does web application development cost?
A focused minimum viable product (MVP) usually starts from around ₹75,000, while larger portals, SaaS platforms and enterprise systems can cost several lakhs. Cost depends on the number of user roles, features, integrations, reporting and design complexity.
Our web applications cost ₹50,000 to ₹1,50,000 plus GST; see web application pricing.
How long does it take to build a web application?
A simple MVP typically takes six to ten weeks. Medium-size portals take three to five months, and complex platforms are delivered in phases over several months. We break the project into milestones so you can start using core features early.
What is an MVP and why should I start with one?
An MVP (minimum viable product) is the smallest version of your application that solves the main problem for real users. Starting with an MVP reduces cost and risk, lets you gather feedback quickly and ensures later budget goes into features users actually need.
Which technologies do you use for web applications?
We commonly use Laravel (PHP) or Node.js for the back end, React or Vue for interactive front ends, MySQL or PostgreSQL for databases, and REST APIs for integrations. The final stack is chosen based on your requirements, expected traffic and in-house skills.
Can you build a SaaS product?
Yes. We build SaaS platforms with multi-tenant accounts, subscription billing, role-based access, admin dashboards and usage analytics. We also help you prioritise features for launch and plan for scaling as customers grow.
Do you build custom CRM or ERP software?
Yes. We build custom CRMs, lead management systems, inventory and order management, HR and attendance systems, and lightweight ERPs tailored to how your business actually works, instead of forcing your team to adapt to generic software.
How do you gather and document requirements?
We hold discovery sessions with your team, map current workflows, list user roles and features, and prepare a scope document with screens and acceptance criteria. You approve this document before development, so both sides agree exactly what will be built.
Will I get to see progress during development?
Yes. We work in short sprints and share a staging link with working features every one to two weeks. This lets you test early, give feedback and adjust priorities instead of waiting until the end.
Who owns the source code?
You do. After full payment, we hand over the complete source code, database and documentation, and the application can be hosted on your own server or cloud account.
How do you make web applications secure?
We follow OWASP security practices: input validation, protection against SQL injection and cross-site scripting, encrypted passwords, role-based permissions, CSRF protection, HTTPS, audit logs for sensitive actions and regular dependency updates. For sensitive data we can add two-factor authentication and IP restrictions.
Can the application integrate with other software?
Yes. We integrate payment gateways, SMS and WhatsApp APIs, email services, Google Workspace, accounting software, shipping partners, maps and third-party APIs. If a system offers an API, we can usually connect to it.
Will the application be able to handle growth?
Yes, if it is designed for it. We plan the database structure, caching and hosting so the application can scale, and use cloud infrastructure where heavy traffic is expected. We also load-test critical features before launch.
Where will my web application be hosted?
We usually deploy on cloud servers such as AWS, DigitalOcean or a managed VPS, sized for your expected users. We can also deploy to your company's own servers. Hosting costs are billed by the provider and depend on usage.
Can you redevelop or upgrade my old application?
Yes. We regularly modernise outdated applications built in old PHP versions or frameworks. We review the existing code and data, plan a safe migration and rebuild in stages so your business keeps running during the transition.
Can my web application also work as a mobile app?
Yes. We can build a responsive web application that works on phones, turn it into a progressive web app, or build companion Android and iOS apps that use the same back end and APIs.
Do you provide testing before launch?
Yes. Every release goes through functional testing, cross-browser and device testing, and security checks. For larger projects we add automated tests for critical workflows and a user acceptance testing phase with your team.
What happens if a bug appears after launch?
Bugs found in the agreed scope during the warranty period are fixed free of charge. After that, a maintenance plan covers fixes, updates and monitoring, or you can request support on a pay-as-you-go basis.
Do you offer annual maintenance for web applications?
Yes. Our maintenance plans include server monitoring, security patches, backups, minor enhancements and priority bug fixes, with a fixed number of support hours each month.
Can I hire dedicated developers from Kdrsoft?
Yes. For long-term products you can hire dedicated developers, designers or QA engineers on a monthly basis. They work as an extension of your team under your priorities, with our project management support.
Can you add AI features to my web application?
Yes. We can add practical AI features such as chat assistants trained on your content, document summarisation, smart search, auto-tagging and recommendations, using APIs from leading AI providers. We focus on use cases that save your team real time.
How are payments structured for web application projects?
Payments are linked to milestones, for example an advance at kick-off, then payments on approval of designs, completion of key modules, and launch. The exact schedule is in your proposal and pricing terms.
What documentation will I receive?
You receive a user guide for your team, admin documentation, API documentation where relevant, and technical notes on setup and deployment so another developer could maintain the system if needed.
Can you build a booking or appointment system?
Yes. We build booking systems for clinics, salons, consultants, hotels, events and rentals with calendars, slot management, payments, reminders by SMS or WhatsApp, and admin dashboards to manage availability.
