Google Ads questions and answers

How does Google Ads work?

Google Ads runs an auction every time someone searches. Advertisers bid on keywords, and Google decides which ads to show and in what order based on bid, ad quality, expected click-through rate, landing page experience and context. You pay when someone clicks your ad.

What types of Google Ads campaigns are there?

The main types are Search (text ads on search results), Performance Max (AI-driven ads across Search, YouTube, Display, Gmail, Maps and Discover), Shopping (product ads for eCommerce), Display (banner ads on websites and apps), Video (YouTube), Demand Gen and App campaigns.

How much does Google Ads cost per click in India?

Cost per click ranges from a few rupees in low-competition niches to several hundred rupees for competitive keywords in finance, insurance, education, legal and real estate. Actual costs depend on competition, quality and targeting.

What is Quality Score?

Quality Score is Google's 1 to 10 rating of how relevant your keyword, ad and landing page are to the searcher. Higher Quality Scores can lower your cost per click and improve ad positions. It is improved by tightly matched keywords and ads and fast, relevant landing pages.

What are keyword match types?

Match types control which searches can trigger your ads. Broad match reaches the widest range of related searches, phrase match requires the meaning of your phrase, and exact match targets searches with the same meaning as your keyword. We combine them carefully with negative keywords to balance reach and relevance.

What is Performance Max and should I use it?

Performance Max is an automated campaign type that uses Google's AI to show ads across all Google channels from one campaign. It works well for eCommerce and businesses with good conversion data, but needs strong creative assets, accurate conversion tracking and careful monitoring of lead quality.

Which bidding strategy is best?

New campaigns often start with Maximise Clicks or Maximise Conversions to gather data. Once there are enough conversions, Target CPA (cost per acquisition) or Target ROAS strategies usually perform best. Manual CPC is still useful for tight control in small or niche campaigns.

Why are my Google Ads not showing?

Common reasons include low bids or budget, disapproved ads, low Quality Score, overly narrow targeting, limited search volume, billing issues or ads scheduled outside current hours. The Ads Diagnostics tool and the campaign status column explain most cases.

Can I show my ads only during business hours?

Yes. Ad scheduling lets you run ads only on certain days and times, or adjust bids for different hours. This is especially useful when you want calls answered by your team.

What are call ads and call assets?

Call assets add your phone number to search ads so mobile users can call with one tap. Call-only style campaigns focus entirely on generating phone calls. Both work well for local services and urgent needs.

What are ad assets (extensions)?

Assets add extra information to your ads, such as sitelinks, callouts, structured snippets, call buttons, location, images, prices and lead forms. They make ads larger and more useful, which typically increases click-through rate at no extra cost per click.

Can Google Ads target my competitors’ brand names?

You can bid on competitor brand keywords, but you cannot use their trademarked names in your ad text without permission. Competitor campaigns can work but often have low Quality Scores and higher costs, so we test them carefully.

How do I track calls and WhatsApp clicks from Google Ads?

We set up call conversion tracking for call assets and website calls, track WhatsApp and form clicks with Google Tag Manager, and import offline conversions where possible so Google can optimise for real leads, not just clicks.

What is Google Tag Manager?

Google Tag Manager is a free tool for managing tracking codes such as Google Ads conversions, GA4 events and Meta Pixel without editing website code each time. It makes tracking more reliable and easier to update.

What are Google Shopping ads?

Shopping ads show product images, prices and store names directly in search results. They are powered by a product feed in Google Merchant Center and are highly effective for eCommerce stores selling physical products.

What is Google Merchant Center?

Google Merchant Center is where you upload and manage your product feed for Shopping ads and free product listings. Product titles, images, prices, availability and policies must meet Google's requirements for approval.

Are YouTube ads worth it?

YouTube ads are cost-effective for building awareness, explaining products and retargeting website visitors. Short skippable ads and Shorts placements can reach large audiences at low cost per view, especially when the creative hooks viewers in the first five seconds.

Why did Google disapprove my ad?

Ads are disapproved for policy reasons such as restricted content, misleading claims, trademark issues, broken landing pages, missing business verification or unsupported characters. The policy manager shows the reason, and most issues are fixable with edits or appeals.

Do I need advertiser verification?

Google requires many advertisers to complete advertiser verification, confirming their identity or business details with documents. Unverified accounts may have ads paused, so we help you complete verification early.

What is a good click-through rate for search ads?

Many search campaigns see click-through rates between 3% and 8%, with branded and highly relevant keywords often higher. A low CTR usually signals poor keyword-ad match or weak ad copy.

Can I run Google Ads with a small budget?

Yes. Small budgets work best with tightly focused campaigns: a few high-intent keywords, a specific location, exact or phrase match, and a strong landing page. Spreading a small budget across many keywords usually wastes it.

How often do you optimise Google Ads campaigns?

We review active campaigns several times a week: search terms, negatives, bids, budgets and ad performance. Larger structural changes and tests are planned monthly based on data.

What is a lead form asset?

A lead form asset lets users submit their details directly from the ad without visiting your website. It can increase lead volume, though lead quality should be monitored and qualifying questions added if needed.

Can Google Ads help a new website?

Yes. Unlike SEO, ads do not depend on domain age, so a new website can get visible on page one immediately for targeted searches, as long as landing pages and tracking are in place.

Do you provide access to the Google Ads account and reports?

Yes. The account belongs to you, you have full access at all times, and we share monthly reports and a live dashboard if you want to follow performance closely.
